Plan to Mitigate the Consequences of the Temporary Suspension of Funding...
Mitigation Plan for the Temporary Suspension of U.S. Government External Funding to Cameroon. A validation workshop will be held from March 18 to 21, 2025, at the Prince de Galles Hotel in Douala.
The objective of this workshop is to validate the mitigation plan and ensure that the proposed measures are effective and sustainable in addressing the suspension of U.S. funding, ensuring the continuity of HIV, tuberculosis, and malaria services, and, finally, ensuring the resilience of the health system. Under the coordination of the Secretary General of MoH.
The technical directorates and programs, in collaboration with technical and financial partners, have developed a mitigation plan aimed at ensuring the continuity of disease control programs, including HIV, to minimize the impact of the suspension of U.S. funding.
The validation workshop brings together the coordinators of the three programs (HIV, tuberculosis, and malaria) as well as representatives from the Ministry of Public Health (MoH) and technical and financial partners.
The suspension of U.S. funding, which accounted for a significant portion of financial resources for the fight against AIDS in Cameroon, poses a major challenge to the continuity of prevention, treatment, and care programs for people living with HIV.
