A technical meeting of the Global Alliance to End AIDS in Children was held from May 11 to 13, 2026, in Côte d’Ivoire (Abidjan). The meeting brought together key actors in the HIV response from Cameroon and across the sub-region.
Organized with the participation of NACC, DLMEP, DSF, and the West Regional AIDS Technical Group (GTR SIDA Ouest), the meeting also brought together member countries of the Alliance in West and Central Africa, as well as UNAIDS country offices. The objective was to develop concrete, high-impact proposals to accelerate a sustainable and inclusive response to HIV among children.
Within three days, participants presented and analyzed the interventions implemented in each country, the progress made, and the main challenges encountered. They also reviewed the latest guidelines and best practices for integrating services, including HIV with sexual and reproductive health, HIV with maternal and child health, triple elimination of mother-to-child transmission, and a comprehensive community-based approach.
At the end of the proceedings, each country refined its short-term strategies for 2025-2026 and medium-term strategies for 2027-2028, aligned with the four pillars of the Alliance. These proposals will feed into the GC8 funding application process and the development of the MoU operational plan. A regional technical brief was also developed to document innovative strategies and country commitments for the next phase of the Alliance.
Through this meeting, NACC reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening multisectoral coordination and accelerating actions for children living with or exposed to HIV in Cameroon.
