The Minister of Public Health, has officially presented results for the 2024-2025 CAMPHIA survey

The Minister of Public Health, Dr MANAOUDA Malachie, has officially presented results for the 2024-2025 CAMPHIA survey. According to this survey, the annual incidence of adults aged 15 years and older in Cameroon was 0.13% which corresponds to 21.000 new cases of HIV per year. The data presented also reveals that approximately 501.000 adults are currently living with HIV in Cameroon. 
According to the Minister, a key aspect from this survey is an increase in the number of people with suppressed viral load which he referred to as extremely important. This as people with undetectable viral loads cannot transmit the HIV virus. 
Minister MANAOUDA said this principle has to be well known and well intergrated in our communities to be able to combat stigmatization. 
The Minister also highlighted that we are moving towards achieving UNAIDS 95-95-95 objectives which can be seen as remarkable progress. He furthered that the assessment projects that our main challenge whis is the first 95. He said it is important for people living with HIV to know their HIV status since it is only through knowing one’s status that precautions against infection or transmission can be judiciously taken. To this he says screening will be intensified likewise community approaches. He says stigma contributes to people not willing to know their HIV status thus need for more interventions towards ending stigma. 
The Minister urged that we need to reinforce our different interventions towards achieving the HIV response. He said the Cameroon Government will take necessary decisions based on the realized data, this as the populations wellbeing is priority. 
He concluded by encouraging everyone to actively join forces towards ending this pandemic. He said collective mobilization is necessary if we want to attain the UNAIDS objectives.
The Cameroon Population-based HIV Impact Assessment (CAMPHIA 2024-2025) was a household-based national sunvey among adults (defined as those aged 15 years and older) to measure the impact of the national HIV response.
It was conducted from September 2024 through January 2025. CAMPHIA 2024-2025 offered HIV counseling and testing with return of results and collected information about uptake of HIV care and treatment services.
The representative of CDC Country Director while speaking at the event said CAMPHIA 2024-2025 was led by the Government of the Republic of Cameroon, primarily through the Ministry of Public Health and the National Institute of Statistics (NIS). 
The survey was conducted with funding from the United States (US) President's Batuergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPPAR) and through technical assistatice and partnership with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), CAMPHIA 2024-2025 was implemented by the Cameroon Baptist Corvention Health Board, NIS, and ICAP at Columbia University in collaboration with Government of Cameroon entities, including the Division of Health Operational Research, the National AIDS Control Committee, the National Public Health Laboratory, the Department of Disease, Epidemics and Pandemics Control, the Department of Pharmacy, Medicines and Laboratory, the Research Center on Emerging & Re-emerging Diseases, the Chantal Biyn International Belovenc Centre for Research on HIV/AIDS Prevention and Management, as well as district, regional, and referral hospitals, and incal government authorities. 
The Government of Cameroon, local civil society organizations, and international development partners participated in steering committee meetings and technical working groups during survey implementation.
